Through continuous collaboration and open dialogue with our key stakeholders, we understand what is expected from us but are also able to innovate and develop sustainable solutions for the future.
Tietoevry Sustainability Report 2022Our largest focus is on areas that are important to our stakeholders. Materiality analysis has been used to prioritize the most important topics based on our strategy and the knowledge of our business and industry, the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and the UN Global Compact, and external and market trends. In 2020, we examined stakeholders’ perceptions through a survey conducted among customers, investors, employees, potential employees, suppliers and partners.
Based on our materiality assessment as well as our vision, strategy, and operations, we have developed our new long-term sustainability agenda in the form of our Sustainability game plan 2023, with three main focus areas: Ethical conduct, Exciting place to work and Climate action. The analysis also forms the basis of our sustainability reporting. We are committed to annual sustainability reporting, which is externally audited and verified.
Before joining forces, both Tieto and EVRY were building a sustainable future with their stakeholder and customers.
Systematic work to reduce the company’s CO2 emissions caused by its operations had been carried out by EVRY for several years. It set a Science Based Target in line with the IPCC’s 1.5-degree low-carbon society target, stating that the company would reduce all Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 90% by 2050.
The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is an independent, non-profit organization that runs a global disclosure system for companies, investors and cities to manage their environmental impacts. In 2019, EVRY was awarded the highest grade for the fourth year in a row, making it one of 17 Nordic companies (and180 globally) to reach the leadership level and make it onto the CDP’s A-list.
EVRY also helped develop solutions and create opportunities for society to reduce its environmental impact. It was committed to a continuous programme of work to lower the group’s own environmental impact through greater energy efficiency, waste management and the use of electronic communication and other measures to reduce travel, as well as a proactive procurement policy.
At Tieto, externally-verified sustainability reporting was key to increasing transparency and reporting continuous, data-driven sustainability activities to stakeholders. Tieto’s sustainability reports between 2014 and 2019 offer an excellent overview of how the company minimizes environmental impact and focused on being an ethical forerunner and creating value for its stakeholders over several years.
